A high-level strategic dialogue was held between China and South Koreas foreign ministries on Tuesday.Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Yesui, who co-chaired the meeting, says the situation on the Korean Peninsula now is extremely complicated and sensitive.He says China has always steadfastly stuck to the denuclearization of the peninsula and tried to maintain peace and stability.Zhang says China supports efforts at the UN Security Council to agree on a forceful resolution as soon as possible, but opposes the deployment of THAAD on South Korea.The U.S. and South Korea say they have decided to discuss the deployment of THAAD, one of the most advanced missile defense systems in the world.It comes after Pyongyang launched a satellite-carrying rocket, which Seoul sees as a cover for a long-range ballistic missile, on Feb. 7.But Zhang says the deployment of THAAD would exacerbate regional tensions and seriously harm Chinas strategic security interests. #China
